HSS Cobalt Drill Bits

Cobalt high speed steel drill bits, dispatched from our Leeds warehouse. Part of our HSS drill bit range, cobalt is the grade to reach for when a standard HSS bit won't cut it.

Why cobalt? Adding 5% cobalt to the steel (a grade known as HSS-Co) raises its heat resistance considerably. That extra hardness is what lets a cobalt bit cut stainless steel, hardened and abrasive metals where a standard HSS bit overheats and blunts. It also holds its edge longer under heat, so it lasts better on tough, repetitive drilling.

Split point — the tip is ground to a split point so the bit bites where you place it instead of skating across a hard surface, which matters most on stainless where a wandering bit work-hardens the material.

Sizes — jobber length bits from 1mm to 13mm.
