Emery Cloth Sheets 280 x 230mm — Aluminium Oxide, Blue Twill

Emery cloth sheets in premium aluminium oxide, for rust removal, sanding, deburring and polishing metal by hand. The grain is bonded to a flexible blue J-weight twill cloth that folds and wraps around bar, tube and pipe without cracking, and tears cleanly to size. Emery cloth holds a more consistent grain and lasts far longer than ordinary sandpaper, which is why it is the workshop standard for working metal.

Cloth backing, made for metal
The J-weight twill cloth backing is what separates emery from paper sheets — it takes the heat, pressure and oil of metalwork and stands up to repeated use. Best on steel, iron and non-ferrous metals; it can be used on wood but clogs faster there, so for wood and general sanding see our production paper, and for wet sanding or paint see our wet and dry sheets.

Choosing a grit
40 (coarse) for heavy rust, scale and stock removal. 80 (medium) for general cleaning and surface preparation. 120 (fine) for finishing and polishing before paint or plating.
