Collection: O Clips

O clips, also called double ear clamps, are crimp hose clamps that secure a hose tightly onto a barb or pipe. This range covers the clips and the pliers to fit them, and the guide below explains how to choose and use them.

How they work — An O clip is a metal band with two raised ears. Slide it over the hose, and crimping the ears with closing pliers pulls the band tight for an even, all-round grip with no protruding screw. The result is a compact, secure clamp that suits tight spaces and gives a clean, professional finish on air, fuel, silicone, coolant and water hose.

You need the pliers — O clips are closed by crimping the ears, so a pair of O clip closing pliers is essential to fit them properly. If you are buying O clips for the first time, add the pliers so you can crimp them correctly, as ordinary pliers will not give an even, secure close.

Choosing a size — O clips are sized to the outside diameter of the hose once it is over the fitting, so choose a clip that closes down onto your assembled hose and barb. An assorted box is the easy way to keep a spread of common sizes to hand for repairs and mixed jobs.

O clip or worm-drive clip — O clips give a compact, tamper-resistant, even clamp and are single-use once crimped. For an adjustable, reusable clamp, a worm-drive hose clip may suit better. Choose O clips where a permanent, low-profile clamp is wanted.
