Fibre-Backed Sanding Discs

Fibre sanding discs for angle grinders, 100mm to 178mm, in 24, 36 and 60 grit. Tough resin-bonded discs on a vulcanised fibre backing, for heavy work — stock removal, weld cleaning, rust and paint stripping, and surface preparation on metal.

For heavy work, not fine finishing
A fibre disc is a coarse, aggressive abrasive that cuts fast and hard. That makes it the disc for stripping and stock removal, but the wrong one for a fine finish — for that, use a flap disc or a sanding sheet.

Choosing a grit
24 (very coarse) for the fastest, most aggressive stock removal. 36 (coarse) for general grinding and stripping. 60 (medium) for lighter removal and a smoother surface before finishing.

You will need a backing pad
A fibre disc is flat and does not mount to a grinder on its own — it runs on a threaded M14 backing pad that supports the disc. Match the pad to the disc size. See our fibre disc backing pads.

Choosing a size
100mm (4"), 115mm (4.5") and 125mm (5") for standard grinders; 178mm (7") for large two-handed grinders and faster coverage on big surfaces.
