A P clip does the job no cable tie can: it holds a run in one fixed place and takes the load off whatever is at the end of it. Cable tied to a loom, a pipe works its way loose and chafes; clipped to the bulkhead every few inches, it stays put for the life of the vehicle. Nylon is the right material for most of that work - it will not rust, it will not cut into insulation the way a bare metal clip can, and black nylon stands up to sunlight rather than going chalky after a season outside.

Size refers to the diameter the clip closes around, so measure the cable, pipe or hose rather than the hole you are fixing into. Choose a clip that matches the run closely - a clip too large lets the run move and chafe, which is the thing the clip was fitted to prevent.
