Please note
Let the drill point do the work - steady pressure at moderate speed. Running too fast burns the point and it will stop cutting, which is the usual reason a self driller spins without biting. Bright zinc plating is a light duty corrosion finish suited to dry and sheltered work rather than permanent exterior exposure.
