260pc Assorted Box of Aluminium Sealing Washers - 260 aluminium sealing washers in eleven size combinations from M6 up to M22.

Aluminium crushes at a lower torque than copper, which is the whole reason to use it. On an alloy sump, a soft casting or a thin injector seat, a copper washer needs enough torque to bed in that you risk pulling or distorting the housing before the joint seals. Aluminium gives way first, takes up the face and seals without loading the casting. Several sizes appear twice in this box with different outside diameters - an M10 at 13mm and at 14mm, for instance - because the outside diameter has to cover the seating face on the part, and the same thread turns up on castings machined differently.

Please note
Sealing washers are single use. Aluminium seals by crushing and does not recover, so fit a new washer every time a plug or union comes out - a reused washer is the commonest cause of a weeping sump plug. Check the outside diameter against the seating face as well as the thread size, since the same thread can appear with different seat dimensions.
