200pc Assorted Box of Brass Olives - 200 brass barrel olives for imperial compression fittings, covering pipe sizes from 1/8" up to 5/8".

An olive is the small brass ring that does the sealing in a compression fitting. The nut pulls it down onto the pipe and it deforms against both the pipe wall and the seat in the fitting, and that is what makes the joint tight without solder, tape or compound. In practice they are single use: once an olive has been compressed it has taken the shape of that particular joint, and a fresh one seals better than a reused one.

Please note
Olives seal best fitted new. One that has already been compressed has taken the shape of its original joint and will not seal as reliably a second time.
