Collection: Silicone Compression Tape

Silicone compression tape is a self-fusing silicone tape that bonds to itself when stretched and wrapped, forming a waterproof, heat-resistant seal with no adhesive. This guide explains how it works and when to use it.

How it works — The tape carries no glue. Stretch it as you wrap and the silicone layers fuse into a single solid band, sealing tightly around whatever it covers. Because it fuses rather than sticks, it leaves no residue and stays put through heat, damp and vibration.

Why silicone — Being silicone, this tape handles higher temperatures and a wider temperature range than standard rubber self-fusing tape, so it suits hot pipework, engine bays and anywhere heat resistance matters, as well as general sealing. It is also a good electrical insulator and resists water, weather and many chemicals.

What it is used for — Use it to seal and insulate cable joints and electrical connections, make emergency repairs to hoses and leaking pipes, wrap and protect fittings, and add grip to handles and tools. It conforms to awkward shapes for a sealed, weatherproof finish.

How to use it — Stretch the tape firmly as you wrap so it bonds, overlapping each turn and extending onto the surface either side of the joint. Wrapping under tension is what makes it fuse into a continuous, watertight seal.
