A JCASE is a cartridge fuse rather than a blade: the element sits inside a moulded housing with the terminals underneath, and it plugs into a dedicated slot in the fuse box rather than the row of blade fuses. They go on the heavier circuits - cooling fans, blower motors, heated screens, ABS and power steering pumps - and they are a time delay type, so they ride out the surge those loads draw on start up instead of blowing on it.
